Subjective Questionnaire

Screening questionnaire for effectively screening patients for OSA:
It is estimated that up to 60 million Americans suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).  Many, perhaps most, are not aware they suffer from this potentially life threatening condition.  By providing a subjective paper screen (asking patients a series of targeted questions and recording their responses), a successful screening is easily accomplished and the decision of whether or not to refer for a sleep test is quickly determined.

Home Sleep Screening Device

Electronic Home Sleep Screening Device (RU Sleeping RST)
For immediate home use, patients can be sent home with the R U Sleeping RST.  This digital home sleep screening monitor records the absence of air-flow (inhale/exhale) that occurs for at least 10 seconds, each hour of sleep throughout the night.  If the patient stops breathing for at least 10 seconds, 5 or more times per hour, at least mild sleep apnea is likely.  This device is easy to use for the patient.  Upon returning it to the dentist office, the dental office staff can quickly review and record the data captured.  The results of this objective screen is very helpful in determining if the patient should be referred for a sleep test.
